why does anyone want to slowplay aces.. against one random your 80/20 , against two randoms your 64/36, against three randoms your down to 52/48, everyone says trap, trap, trap with them.. i say its better to win small pots with them than lose big pots with them so why slow play them ?

Slowplaying Aces is a bad idea even when you hit your set.
You don't want to be giving any free cards.
If you play it right and you still get drawn out on, you have at least forced your opponent to make a mistake.
Just keep betting when you think you're ahead and don't be afraid to let them go if you hit a really bad board ie 4 to a str8 or flush.Last edited by BluffYou123; 08-05-2010 at 04:24 PM.

So the one thing I would add to this thread that no one else has said.....
My goal with AA is to get all-in pre-flop against one opponent. I will use whatever technique is going to work best for me to do this at the table I am playing.
I always raise with AA and if there is a raiser in from of me then I will re-raise.
If the board pairs, I worry and remain cautious.
If the board gets where straight and flush are possibilities I proceed with caution.
If the board looks harmless, I consider my opponents pre-flop call, and if they might have set.
AA is very hard to play post flop. I think it was in Super Systems but AA is notorious for winning small pots and losing big ones because people do not know how to let them go (and it is a hard hand to let go).
So play it and try to get your one opponent all-in pre-flop. This is not saying you need to push, you need to get someone to push, or get someone to call your push.
For example, with one raiser and blinds only, I might just re-raise the pot hoping to get the first raiser to try another raise or a push. If the re-raise, then I push, I like the pot at that point if they decide to lay it down.
Another example, a pre-flop raiser with two callers and big blind and small blind left. I bet out big or push, once again the pot is juicy, I can take it down, or hopefully end heads up with a huge advantage.

There are some spots where I would 'slowplay' AA (but it also depends on what you call 'slowplaying'... ie. I never limp with them...well.. 'almost' never, lol.. ie. if I'm in SB & BB is super aggro in later levels of MTT... and I have history with them knowing they're likely to raise anytime I've limped in from SB when playing a BvB situation, I'll consider limping in with AA if my stack is on the short side.. praying they'll ship it or if my stack is 15-20bb size.. raise me so I can get it allin (< not really slowplaying, lol).
There are other spots where I'll just 'flat' with AA pre.. ie. if my stack is on the smallish side (~15-25bb) and there's a raise ahead of me in MP-LP pos., I'll consider flatting with the big pr. in position, in hopes of villain committing more chips to the pot on the flop. Vs. good players though, a 'flat' of an open-raise with a stack of this size is very suspect (if villain perceives you as being a solid/good player)... if it were just a weak or poor player, the flat could be with a fairly large range of hands (donkeys tend to flat with a stack size they should almost never be flatting with in later levels). Vs. another good player I'll more likely just ship it in over their raise, which could be perceived as being a wider range of hands that would likely resteal-shove in this spot (so I guess what I'm saying is.... I'd flat in this situation w AA vs a 'decent' player... but probably not vs. a good player).Brad Booth - > "Like a fight... it's not how you start, it's how you finish"

I like to be in the 1st position UTG with pocket Aces. I will just call/limp at an aggressive table where you know at least one or more players are going to Raise. Then he may get a couple of callers. Then I can come over the Top with Huge raise or ALL IN to isolate it to one player or more than likely take down the pot right there.

I love slow playing aces
There is no better satisfaction of making the proper fold on the flop holding the worst hand knowing your pre-flop raise would get called anyways.
