Question Bad River Value Bet?

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t50/t100 Blinds - 9 players

UTG+2: t7850
MP1: t14035
MP2: t110
CO: t15955
BTN: t675
SB: t6949
BB: t4670
UTG: t155
Hero (UTG+1): t7410

Pre Flop: Hero is UTG+1 with J :spade: A :club:
1 fold, Hero raises to t300, 3 folds, CO calls t300, 3 folds

Flop: (t750) 6 :club: 8 :spade: T :club: (2 players)
Hero bets t500, CO calls t500

Turn: (t1750) A  (2 players)
Hero bets t1100, CO calls t1100

River: (t3950) J :diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets t2500, CO calls t2500

Final Pot: t8950
CO shows Qs Kc (a straight, Ace high)
Hero shows Js Ac (two pair, Aces and Jacks)
CO wins t8950

What does everyone think, was this a bad value bet on the river?

Btw don't ask me why I wasn't raised on the river I don't have a clue lmao

Hate to monday morning QB because I have done this myself and will unfortunately do again.

Your bets up until the river I like but with str8 possibilities and him continually calling good sized bets I think a check on the river is called for. What can you really beat just 1 pair and a bluff? So check and allow yourself to win a good sized pot if he is making a move and minimize damage if you are beat.

He definitely should of check raised you. If he had would you, could you of called. Probably not which is why you should of checked.

Like I said it is easy to look back and say do this do that. Much harder to make descision in moment. Hope this helps.

I would have played exactly the way you did. That was a very unlikely straight considering the way the betting went. I would have put him on two lower pair than yours or a high pair. My problem with this kind of situation is that I get so excited about flopping two high pair that I don't even notice if there are straight and flush possibilities even if they are glaringly evident.

Looking back at this hand, you gave your opponent too many chances to outdraw you. The bet on the flop was too small, still don't see why you were called here though. With 1,900 chips in the pot on the turn, again 1,100 is too small of a bet. The best play you made the entire pot was unfavorable, in terms of betting on the river. Utilize that agression on the flop and turn, and the probably would not have gone to the river.

But after the flop he had NOTHING. He bets more than a half pot and the villain calls, so you must respect that too.
At the turn (I think) he had the opportunity to make a more agressive bet.

i am thinkin i like bigger bets on the flop and turn and once he calls maybe a smaller bet on river just so if he comes over the top you have the ability to lay it down......but mainly just thinkin try harder to rid yourself of him on flop .......just my thoughts... sometimes it happens that way though

Ty for the advice folks, looking back I feel a larger turn bet was called for, but at the time I wasn't sure whether the Ace put me ahead or not, and was thinking if I get raised here I'm behind to 2pr or a flopped sat.

Not sure a bigger bet would have made a lot of difference anyway against a player calling with this holding who doesn't raise with the Nutz, weird?

On the river I felt I had the best hand, and because this villian had shown more willingness to call, rather than bet out / raise previously, I bet. I was surprised to see the hand I did and really expected a pair + draw, that had possibly also hit 2pair.

Anyway, Ty again for the responses.
