Does anyone know about what sort of bankroll you would or should have to start playing $1 Sit and Go's?
I would like to hear more details , regarding the question , if you want to play 1 euro sit and goes, with 9 players? 18 ? 45 ? 90 ? 180 ? and so on ..
How high your bankroll should be before stopping at the 1 euro sit and goes ? above 90 dollars i would say...
If you cash 1 out of the 3 times you should do ok .
( With cashing i dont mean getting into the rio, i mean really cash something out of it , like above 5 $ ... ) ( cause if you would win , 2 and invest 1 in that game you would have won 1 and would have to use that 1 to play a other one .

I like this post. I have alot of questions about bank roll management aswel. I play .45 10 man sit gos. Top 3 pays you only make .95 for 3rd. I have been keeping a tally of my wins and loses so I can determine when to move up. But I count any cash as a "win". Is this a mistake? And at what point should a person move up? Winning 70%, 75%, 80%, what is the concensus out there?
I did not mean to hijack this post. If you would like to answer in $1 buy in terms please do.

When you begin at 0 $ you start to play freerolls, unless u start out with the min deposit which usually is around 10 $ and 50 $.
Lets say you start out with $ 10.
You want to play sit and goes and stick to bankroll management ... You most be able to play atleast 20 games with the 10 $ , that is 0.50 cent per game ( or 0.45 cent if you play that .. ) . which is possible , but you want to keep it in a 18 person game , since this will be more suitable for this level of games, for allot of people considering it almost a freeroll , it sometimes gets hard to play against these kind of players, thats why we want to keep the field a bit smaller , 18 players is good.. +when you take a bigger field , it will be harder to get a high ( rio ) , with more payouts you get rio ofcourse, but if you invest , 0.45 and win lets say 0.63 cents, then you didnt even progress the 20 games to 21 games .. ( maybe thats a good example ? ) , and every time your games go up , you could play a higher level when you think you can play 20 of those games again , so the point is to make the 10 $ to 20 $ then you could progress to 0.90 $ games or 1 $ games , and when you double up your money again you go up again , to 1 $ or 2 $ games . ( But here it will freeze for a time ) cause the 40 = 20 games , but when you get 80 bucks you dont want to go out playing 4 $ sit and goes, why is a bit long to explain in a short time i got .. , getting back to 1 and 2 dollar sit and goes, you go to the 3.30 sit and goes or higher when you reach 165 $. Then you may go to 3.30 4 dollar sit and goes, and extend your field to 45 . Now your building from here up to 275 $ and start to play 5.50 sit and goes , with still 18 to 45 players ( you could do a 9 game first to see how you do at this point ) , then when you reach the 400 + mark you can play 8,80 $ sit and goes with 180 people field. And then from 1000+ $ you can play the 11 $ sit and goes with 45 or 180 people . It pays good for your role and it doesnt indanger your bankroll what so ever. Reach this point and get back to the post for further information.

That is interesting...you think I should move up according to my bankroll, not my winning ratio. What if I got my bankroll from free rolls and small buy in tourneys. I have $50 yes but I don't want to donk it off playing limits that I am not ready for, right?![]()

If u expect to get a tought game when investing money in it , you want to be sure your going to get something out of it , that saying you want to keep it at a level you think you can take, when i had 20 $ , the 1.75 $ game at pokerstars sit and go turbo suited very good for me, always in the top 3 .. , but when i moved to a 5 $ + game i was almost crying i went out as bubble , or getting rio but like only 5 $ 50 cents, then you just played like 1 2 hours to get 50 cents, thats crazy , you atleast want to make decent money for time spend and bankroll , if you got 50 $ dont rush into going games that cost you more then 2.25 , ( stay in that zone for now 1 to 2.25 , with a 9 to 18 people field for now, when you want to spend more time for the extra payment from a 45 people field , and got a bit more patience in waiting at better hands then normal you should play this one , but knowing u need a big stack to stay alive ( folding more would be wise and taking the best spots to get allot of money in letting it look like a steal ) most make a stack at the end of the levels staying at a normal avarage stack and then pushing up, if you manage to go to final table with a above avarage stack you can manage to play tighter .. Ofcourse long explanation about that then again .
Hope these details help aswell,

I think that play sit & go is a good way to raise oru bankroll. If i cash in 1 sit&go for every sit & go i played i do well. Its simple like that.
Thanks for the comments;
In my limited experience with Sit and Go's I just played the 9 player ones at microstakes at Royal Vegas. However, I really like the format and feel at Full Tilt, but it appears that the lowest buy-in is $1 + 0.25. Do you recommend the 9 player or 18 player formats for best investment in time for money?
BTW, I'm starting with small stakes because I'm just beginning with the Sit and Go's and don't wan't to invest a lot of money until I'm more experienced.
hi all
there is an article or two about bankroll management in the poker articles section
but generally I would say a minimum of 20x the buy-in for SnG's and cash games and more (at least 40x buy-ins) for MTT's
some pro players would say you should have 40x for SNG's & cash games with more again for MTT's
so if your playing $5 SNG's you need a bankroll of $100 (or $200 if you want 40x) then to move up to $10 SnG's you'd need to build to $200 before moving up
for cash games with $10 max buy-in (5/10 cent games) you need a bankroll of $200
for MTT's with a $5 buy-in as the swings are much bigger and your in the monye finishes fewer and farther between I would suggest min of 40x buy-in - so to play $5 tournaments you need a bankroll of $400 IMHO
you can adjust the amounts for smaller or bigger buy-ins but 20x should be your minimum rule

From the Ferguson Challenge..."I'll never buy into a cash game or a Sit & Go with more than 5 percent of my total bankroll (there is an exception for the lowest limits: I'm allowed to buy into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less).
I won't buy into a multi-table tournament for more than 2 percent of my total bankroll and I'm allowed to buy into any multi-table tournament that costs $1.
If at any time during a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game session the money on the table represents more than 10 percent of my total bankroll, I must leave the game when the blinds reach me. "
Seems to be working for me so far. I started with 150.00 on FT and am up over 400 in around 2 months by following the rules...Most of the time![]()
