    Default donk calls on purpose??

i sometimes make donk calls on purpose and am wondering if anyone else does. let me tell you what i mean. for example the blinds are low maybe 15/30 and im dealt 3 5 unsuited. someone raises 200 pre-flop. normally i would fold but every now and again i like to call and see the flop. the point is if i flop something like two pair or even a straight then no one would ever really suspect me of having a three five. i mean who calls a big pre-flop raise with 3 5, right. witch means if the flop is good to you then your more likely than not going to win a big pot. witch has happened to me a few good times. then the guy who just donated his chips goes, mannnnn your such a f'n donk!!! and i say yes sir i must be please play me like it!!!

I don't do quite like what you do, but occasionally, especially early in small tourneys where I will be at the same table a while, I will make a small donk call to give the impression that I am a loose player. It seems to work for me.

I dont like the term "Donk Call" however, I often call when I know I am beat in a hand to see HOW YOU played what hand you had!

I understand the concept of PAYING for Information.

I resently was in a live cash game pot limit holdem and with in the space of 30 min, I was £800 down, I didn't panic I noticed that it was all going in one direction, ie to one player.

I noticed if I checked the turn or river I got a POT Raise off this guy........... I am talking EVERY TIME I checked

So I started calling any 2 cards for £20.00 and seeing flops, My blind comes around ( He always Raised my blinds as well )

I look down at 74.... the pots large around 800 and I hit the flush on the flop..I checked...BINGO "Mr Aggressive I play the Gypsy and Take all his money" FIRED in 800ish

I re-pot and cut a long story sort, he went home scarching his head with out his rent money

The Day after his asked me how I knew he didn't have a Flush............

I said you know "********" you have to work on that tell of your's...........

He's not played cash with me since.

I don't like this way to play.
If you hit the str8, right, maybe you can win a big pot, but even with 2 pairs, you aren't in a solid position because you have two small pairs, and you can be beated with a big pair and a board pair (as example) or with a set.
If we assume that you start the tourney with 1500 chips, then you are throwing away 13% of your stack waiting a miracle flop.
And of course you can be envolved in a tricky flop like 55T and lost a great part or all your stack against a player holding TT or a loose player holding A5s.
Really don't like this way to play, but everyone plays like want.

A different approch is what GT did against an aggresive player and after know the way he was playing. Is risky, because aggresive players have also luck, and when you think you have them in your hands, the true is other. In the history that GT told, if the aggresive player was holding only one card of clubs higher than a 7, he still had a chance to win a huge pot with another club in the board (assuming that the third clubs comes in the flop or in the turn).

Smile Im a donk in freerolls

I will always make the bad call early in freerolls because they will not lay down their hand when i hit mine. I can calculate pot odds based on 2 all in players cause thats where its going, in the pot.
Besides its fun too play bad once in a while

I do not donk a really big bet but I will donk call the blinds in a heart beat early in a tourney if there are two or three callers in front of me. I sometimes say to myself I hope someone raises big so I can just fold this crap!!

i'm not fond of calling just like that and donking my chips for fun , i'd better save them for a big bluff . i believe in the strenght if "showing the bluff" rather than calling on purpose... achieves better results imho.

    my 2 cents

well it sounds like yo me that you have a plan, and as long as you are ok with your chips stack after the call and are able to fold, to each there own, they are your chips and the beauty of that is that you can do whatever you want with them.
