what strategy u guys use on a tournament?

Normaly i go extreme tight on the early stages of the tournament and start to loose it up as time goes

how about u guys?

i do it the other way around. it gets harder later on.

I agree with playing very tight. but i play tight the entire tourney, cuz people will think you never bluff, then you can pull off some good bluffs. also i only like to play one tourney at a time, cuz you get a better read on players.

Poker Tournament Strategy

there is a basic tight / loose / tight strategy but really to be effective you need to take on board much more situational strategy given your position relative to others and how far through the tournament you are -

sometimes you can justify risks ... sometimes you cant

sometimes you are better off scrapping into the money ... sometimes you just have to go for it

dont play too loose early ... but also remember a key feature of tournaments which is really really important to recognise ...

the weakest easiest to beat bad bad weak players are in at the start ... not the end

so make sure you get as many of the easy chips on the table at the start as you can as it is only going to get harder as the game progresses

playing to tight can kill alot of ur action because people think u only play the nuts...u might steal a few blinds but that is about it...but thats just my opinion

Usually with tournaments I start off with a limited aggressive style but tighten up once the blinds get a bit more substantial. I've found that unless you can make some progress quickly its a bit hard to keep your footings.

I wouldn't suggest sticking to any playing stlye in the early stages of a tournament. You don't want to be seen as being too tight or too loose. Mix it up a little to throw off your opponents and take advantage of your big hands to gain maximum value out of your hands and ultimately, all of your opponents chips.

while blind sa re low reletive to chip stacks then you can "play" a little. Thsi is fun and u can build a big stackl

It depends on the starting chip stack, How much the tourny buy-in was, and the tourny clock.

Give me some more info and I try and put pen to paper for you.

I play more loose in tournaments than in cash games. I find this a better way to make money than on cash games. Cash games require more luck
