Thanks for the link, ScrawnyBob. I enjoyed reading your article about the merger of UltimateBet and Absolute. The Cereus Poker Network has a long way to go to prove themselves. Hopefully there will be no more "incidents" as there have been in the past. Time will tell.

i play at ub but they have still very long road to prove themselves, because even if i, a player of them, face bad beats in a row, directly stop playing for a month : ) i play at ~5 dolar buyin tournaments, and never enter higher ones. if i have money to enter those regularly , i would never play at UB
I just posted this under ONLINE POKER, then saw this thread...and am reposting it here.
I just read a long and in depth article about on cheating on Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker. The software was rigged so that players on the inside could see everyone's cards.
This is the second time UB was busted.
I read the article on bj21.com, newsletter of Sept 19, 2008. I am posting a short part of the article here, but I suggest anyone with interest to look at the whole article which shows exact hands, amounts bet, various statistics etc.
Allegations that cheaters manipulated the software powering a leading Internet poker site so they could see their opponents' hole cards have triggered a $75 million claim against a Canadian company, msnbc.com has learned. The alleged subterfuge on UltimateBet.com — one of the 10 top poker sites — is the biggest known case of fraud targeting an Internet gambling site and its customers, according to the company that owns the site. It is similar to a case of cheating that occurred last year on UltimateBet’s sister site, AbsolutePoker.com, but this time the thieves ran the scheme for far longer — at least from January 2005 to January 2008, it said.
Word of the $75 million U.S. claim ($80 million Canadian) — the first indication of the scope of the alleged cheating — emerged this week when msnbc.com contacted a court-appointed liquidator overseeing the voluntary dismemberment of Excapsa Software Inc. of Toronto, which formerly owned and licensed the poker software to UltimateBet and other gambling sites. The claim was filed by Blast-Off Ltd. of Malta, a private company that currently has an ownership interest in Ultimate Bet.
