Default UB Tournament Dollars

Hey all cool site. I have been looking for a good poker message board to share thoughts on with cool cats!

I am fairly new to poker and genrally play strictly at UB. Last night I won a Touranment Dollar freeroll and won 9 bucks.

I havnt been able to find much info on how tournament doallrs are used or structured. Today I played a sit n go tourny that entry was .40 + .02. When I look at my accound my tournament dollars went down to 8

Wondering why they took a whole dollar? Anyone know?

Also wondering if anyone could point me to a thread that might deal with how the best way to play with tourny dollars is. Should I be looking to play certain types of tournys to maximize the tourny dollars.

Edit: Also being a newbie I am kinda looking for a sort of mentor. There seems to be alot more to playing online poker than meets the eye. Things like how do you start ranking and in general what is the best way to maximize your playing.

I havnt played with real money yet but have set myself at a 50 dollar per week budget. Wondering if

TIA

Hope everyone is having a great day! Best of luck to you all at th tables!

BC

I believe they treat tournament dollars the same way bodog does, in that they don't break them up into cents. That way, it would be better to enter a 90cent tourney or something like that which is closer to a full dollar amount.

I do believe you are wrong about bodog, and I can't comment about UB, never played there.

At bodog the tournament dollars can be used to register into any MTT. They won't steal your cents or pennies. The cost of the tournament is a direct deduction from your total. On the main lobby screen it will show only total dollars not the cents, and if you enter your account page and search the tournament dollars you will see the record of the deductions and that they clearly match the cost of the entry fee.

To the original poster,

Congrats and well done, a start financially at a site that you seem comfortable with, that in my view is half of the battle. If you are only beginning poker, keep on at the freerolls, and don't be too hungry initially to see the bankroll rise. I would continue the way you have been in the freerolls and mix in a real money game once or twice a week when you feel that you are playing well. The best advice is not which games to play in, because that is as individual as you are, (test a few SNG's and MTT's and see which you prefer) but to take the time and review the games that you play picking out the good hands and bad hands and seeing what you did right and where you made your mistakes. This will improve your game 10 times faster than choosing any game type or searching for the bigger cash wins and it goes without saying READ, READ, READ any poker literatue you can get your hands on. There are some great poker strategy guides and tips here in the forum. You'll find those here (Strategy guides) and here (General tips and advice), that ought to keep you busy for a while.

There are plenty of people on this forum that have the skills and desire to help new players to the game, you've definately come to the right place. If you require any further assistance don't hesitate to ask, I'm only a PM away if that would help.

TTFN and keep up the good work.

NF4.
