Full Tilt’s Ray of Sh*te Bitar Lands Himself Right In It
July 6, 2012 Early this week Ray (of Shite) Bitar emailed Full Tilt staff in Ireland before flying to the States and handing himself over to the US authorities to face charges over the whole Full Tilt fiasco. Subsequently a superseding indictment was unsealed which makes staggering reading.
Ray (full of even more sh*te than we thought) Bitar
While many poker players and industry commentators (including myself) have struggled to fully believe the top Full Tilt pro’s and members of the board knowingly screwed over players and mis-managed the company, few in the industry (again including myself) have had problem pointing the finger at Ray Bitar …
Most see him as the single most likely figure to blame for Full Tilt’s downfall and mis-management … The new indictment does little to dispell this.
The new indictment is quite … well indicting
The biggest shock is the timescale as much as the extent to which it now seems Ray (of Sh*te) Bitar had managed to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes.
Inside the Indictment: The Damning Case Against Ray Bitar and Nelson Burtnick
While there aren’t really any new surprises over what went wrong at Full Tilt, the new details and most significantly the dates are something of an eyeopener, revealing just how long Bitars game of smoke and mirrors had been going on …
Basically longer than most thought.
According to Bitar’s email to FTP staff before he left Ireland he is optomistic the deal will go through with PokerStars and indeed Stars are planning to pick up next months wage bill – All good news and a promising indicator that this will work out for all the Full Tilt players funds.
Now if the tone of the rest of his email is to be believed one would get the impression that somehow Bitar is “taking one for the team” and throwing himself under the bus to save everyone else … but seriously is he ?
Is he f*ck
IMvHO he has seen that others involved in the whole Black Friday fiasco starting out with seriously long multiple sentences hanging over them, having then effectively pleaded it down to nothing more than minor misdemeanors and a little jail time … and Bitar figures now is the time to look like he is doing the decent thing and fingers crossed he gets off with a similarly soft sentence.
I think while it makes great PR (well better than cr*p) for Bitar to try to look like the passionate but incompetently naive CEO – That really is not likely to wash with the courts … His case is going to look a lot worse than the others to date.
The people over at PokerFuse have done a great job following the Bitar saga as it has developed this week so below are all their stories in chronological order …
