PKR Poker Features
PKR is unfortunately not open to US real money players, however it does allow US poker players to play online with play money. Below is an article written by one of our American sign-ups to PKR via our review giving feedback on his experience at PKR.
PKR is probably the only non US real money poker site that American players are likely to signup to just for play money due to the amazing 3d poker software. This is a great testimament to the site and a great place for all players across the world to play at.
Play Money Experience at PKR
Many times when I have signed up for an online poker room in the past, it was because US players were allowed to play there for real money and at the time, a great deposit bonus was being offered. Well, since the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in 2006, poker players such as myself that live in the US are somewhat limited in choices to what online poker room we can sign up for. This truly is unfortunate because there are other great online poker rooms available to play at that offers great games, diverse competition, and amazing graphics. One room that stands out the most is PKR.
PKR is an online poker room that has been created and driven by experienced video game creators. The have created the innovative “Emote Control” technology which is a list of almost 50 different commands that allow users to interact with their tablemates. Anything from “Nice Hand” to “Loser” can be spouted off either to the table as a whole or to any individual player. PKR also offers stunning graphics which make you feel as if you are playing a video game with money involved and offers up to 8 different table views for you to choose from.
As a US player, I am extremely jealous at the fact that we are not allowed to play for real money at PKR. I mean, it simply is not fair. But before we lie on our backs and start kicking and screaming there is a silver lining to this dark cloud. PKR poker is one of the few rooms that allow US players to still play on their site for play money. With that in mind, I decided to check PKR out. Below you will find some of the things I enjoyed best about PKR that should be reason enough to download their software.
PKR Emote Control
Frankly, this is what PKR is known for. And although I am not one to follow the hype, I really had to see for myself why there was such much fuss surrounding the “Emote Control.” I am glad I did. When sitting at the table I started to play with the vast list of Emote commands that are there at your disposal. At the time of writing, I counted over 45 different commands that ranged from you congratulating a player on a “nice hand” to you holding your hand up in the shape of an “L” and calling your tablemates losers.
The reasons for using these controls will vary from player to player. I honestly do not think that you will egg on an experienced player into calling whatever raise you make. However, it may be possible to do that to an inexperienced player.
My goals for using the commands were completely for amusement purposes only. I enjoy being able to talk trash at the table without being told to shut up by a moderator. Some of my favorite “Emote” functions were the “boo,” “clap,” “cheer,” “loser,” “LMAO,” and “yawn.” And as I mentioned above, you can target any of these to a specific player or to the table as a whole. Some of the other fun ones to check out include, “dance,” “cough,” “unlucky,” “shake head,” “chicken,” and “bring it on.”
When I first played in a sit n go, I had the sound turned off. Boy, be sure to turn it on or you are missing out. Many of the “emote” commands also have sound effects so not only are you calling someone a “loser” with the wave of your hand, but your player also states it loud and clear. The first time you hear this you will surely land on the floor laughing.
PKR Functions
Aside from the “Emote” commands, I really appreciated the navigation and the ease of using PKR’s software. Their menu option tabs are all colored differently and are very easy on the eyes especially when combined with a black background and white text. Using a black background with white text is very hard for a webmaster to pull off but PKR has made it look easy.
When facing their menu for the first time, I found that trying to find a game was simple and required no thought on my end. Everything is labeled in tabs such as “ring games,” “tournaments,” and “sit n gos.” I found the game I wanted to play within seconds and registering took only a few seconds longer.
When sitting at the table playing my $500 50 man sit n go, it was appreciated that it was very “poker player” friendly. And by that I mean that there were several betting buttons available such as a min bet button, 2x, 3x, 6x, 8x, and an “max” or “all-in” button. You can adjust the chat to limit how much discussion you want to see, the font can be adjusted for easier reading, or you can turn it off all together if you wish.
The options that I enjoyed and could not play PKR without are the different “views.” You have 8 different options: North, South, East, West, First Person, Dynamic, Orbit, and Overview. I am a video game player as well so the different view options are definitely appreciated. It really can keep the game fresh and new as opposed to the same old view everyday, every game. My favorite view was the “Dynamic” view which followed the action at the table. If you are the type of player to try and find tells within the “emote” commands, I highly suggest you use this view.
Play Poker at PKR
My experience at PKR was as fun as it could be while playing only for play money. During my visit I played 3 Texas Hold Em sit n go’s and 2 different omaha cash games and the competition was what you would expect while playing for free. But the lack of competition was totally disregarded when I sat down and started playing with all the features that makes PKR poker unique. If for any reason you decide to check out PKR, I really feel that it will be for the one of a kind experience that at this time only PKR can deliver.
